Last night after coming home from watching a glorified live-action version of Aladdin The Prince of Persia my sister said that my friends were at the front door. I had no idea who in their right mind would come to see me at that ungodly hour (it was 1amish). I kept laughing at my sister insisting that she was crazy and trying to pull a prank on me. I kept flinging myself into bed and tossing the covies over my head refusing to go downstairs to see my “friends” as my sister grew increasingly aggitated (to my delight). I had no idea why she was acting the way she was persisting and demanding that I go see what was at the door. I refused one last time and she screamed at me “Go downstairs! Now!” to which I responded “why??”. “I can’t tell you! Just GO!”. So off I went, dejected that I was missing out on some valuable sleep hours, shuffling down my stairs, my hair amess and without makeup in my sleep clothes. I opened the door and saw a white envelope on the step outside my door. It read:
“Open Now
Rules for Opening:
1) You must be alone
2) You must sit on the steps outside your front door (this will make sense when you read what’s inside the envelope)
I still hadn’t the slightest idea what was going on. But I read the letter, which was another set of instructions and enclosed with the letter was an iPod which the letter told me to listen to. On the iPod “Think of Me” a song by Rosi Golan (coincidentally Jess and my favourite song at the moment) was queued. I was given the instructions from the letter to listen to the song, look up at the night sky and listen closely to the words at the end of the song. Just as the song was ending, I heard footsteps at the bottom of my stairs. My heart knew before my head whose footsteps those were!
You see, I was under the impression by my dear Jesse that he was to be arriving on the 8th of June. I was all excited for my preparations for surprising him at the airport. Little did I know he had been planning his surprise for a week and corresponding with people back home and with all of his fellow interns in Australia in efforts to make for a seamless surprise. It seemed everyone knew, except me, with good reason of course (; Needless to say, it was one of the best, if not the best surprises I have ever received. We ended up staying up for the next few hours talking about our month apart and the adventures we’ve both been up to.
In retrospect I guess I should’ve seen it coming what with Kai asking me to go see a movie with her during a (summer)school day at 10:30 at the latest show time, asking me if I really want to take off my makeup before bed, insisting that we watch a movie or just one show before I go to bed, asking if I was really getting dressed for bed, and acting overall slightly more suspicious than usual…it was all there. The clues were strewn about in front of me sticking their pink tongues out at me, but there I was clueless and without a doubt ready (and determined) to go to bed at 1am. However, I am quite glad Deborah didn’t give me the chance to go to bed (;
The video is the song Jesse and I have been listening to this past month. It’s called “Think of Me” by Rosi Golan. It’s also the song he had queued on his iPod inside the envelope on my front step (=
Here are the lyrics..maybe you’ll see why it’s so special to us:
When you hear but you just don’t listen
When you’re looking but you just don’t see
When you’re thinking there’s no rhyme or reason
Think of me
Think of me
When you’re getting to the end of a hard day
And you’re thinking it’s a long way home
When you’re thinking that you’re just plain crazy
Because you’re on your own
Think of me
I will find you, I promise
I will make you believe, oh
That I’m in this crazy love for the long haul
So think of me
Think of me
When you’re laying on my favorite pillow
All you want to do is fall asleep
When you’re gazing out the bedroom window
Please think of me
Think of me
When you’re driving down an empty highway
You’re surrounded by the sky and sea
When you’re seeing such a thing of beauty
Do you think of me?
Think of me
I will find you, I promise
I will make you believe, oh
That I’m in this crazy love for the long haul
So think of me
Think of me
‘Cause if I make you a promise
That’s a promise that I’ll keep
And I’m in this crazy love for the long haul
So think of me
Think of me
And I’ll be home soon
I’ll be home soon
I’ll be home soon
Home to you
‘Cause if I make you a promise
That’s a promise that I’ll keep
And I’m in this crazy love for the long haul
So think of me
Think of me
Yeah, I’m in this crazy love for the long haul
So think of me
Think of me
