My very first original!
I wrote this at camp this year at the end of August in one day and touched it up for the next couple of days. Here are the lyrics:
Jesse’s Song (1,2,3)
[Verse1]
One, two, three
I count my way
to oceans that speak,
crashing into space
an eternity.
[Verse2]
I count to three,
as I close my eyes.
There I see trees,
holding each other
tenderly.
[Verse3]
Flashlight eyes,
where do they lead?
By sun-kissed roads,
blessed by the Father
and painted in gold.
[Bridge]
And your eyes open up
new doors and
promise to make things brand new
All the teardrops that fall now
leave a
trail marked with gladness for two
of a story,
counted in three…
[Verse4]
One, two, three
count with me,
of numbers that tell
the greatest story,
that one could spell
Once upon a time, there was a boy and a girl who were afraid to say the words “I love you”. They had been badly hurt and betrayed in the world of love before and didn’t want to use those words frivolously. One perfect night, they both had the courage to say those powerful words: “I love you”. The boy then asked the girl, “Have you ever noticed when we hold hands that I sometimes squeeze your hand three times?” The girl shook her head in confusion. The boy then said “that was me trying to tell you “I love you”.
….That was my story. Hope you enjoyed the song as much as I did writing it.
