Needed to share.
I’ve been away for so long I’m finding it difficult to find the motivation to keep my blog up to date. However, I just wanted to stop by and share something I read today because it truly spoke to me. It’s a quote by Maya Angelou, hope you enjoy!
‘A woman’s heart should be so hidden in Christ that a man should have to seek Him first to find her.’

Happy 10th
It’s simultaneously odd and amazing how even as J is on the other side of the world, miles away, that I’m perfectly content with the endless surprises I’m getting, postcards, daily Skyping and emails in between. Thank you for the delivered Belgian chocolates today- happy 10th! You make me happy whether you know it or not (=
Arrestingly beautiful.
I read a story in the sky today, the pen was dipped in white cotton candy and written in the language of clouds. I saw a teddy bear riding on the back of a turtle. I saw a puppy leaping through the air taking a bellyflop. I saw creatures of all shapes and sizes. I saw a heart-shape that trailed off into a million pieces and a great feathery couch with overly-stuffed arms. I saw mountains that...

Ahh the life of a teacher candidate
Two things:
1- I GOT TO PLAY MY NEW GUITAR AND SING WITH MY KIDS!!! Ohhh what an experience getting to play Bettie and sing and teach a class of kids to sing. I think it was that much more special because it was somewhat of an improptu sing-along-type sesh. The kids were super into it and we had a visitor from the grade two class who was just the cutest thing ever.
2- This one’s actually...
Oh joy
I’ve been checking out different churches- not for myself, but now that my sister has accepted Christ in her life and wants to find a church, I am attending different churches with her. I must say, it’s such a humbling experience going to a new church, or a new anywhere really. Going outside of your comfort zone forces you to face yourself, kind of like staring into a mirror completely...

Classroom funnies
- Guuuurl, work those Hanes!
- I want to join a Jedi Gym.
- “Sexy people think alike.” …apparently.
- Midway through my TES class I was asked out by a boy two seats to the right of me. Suffice it to say I said “no”.

I’m dumbfounded and in disbelief when I realize that it’s only been about two weeks since I’ve been back from Urbana. The convictions, the emotions, the state of mind that I had a couple of weeks ago seems to be quickly ebbing away. I hate that I’m losing it so quickly. I wanted so badly for it to be a lasting feeling, but it feels like I’m trying to hold water in a...
History Belongs To the Intercessors.
I was challenged yesterday during our Friday college meeting when one of our sisters who went to Mali shared her testimony. She shared how she used to be timid with her prayers always asking of God only “if it be His will….”. She shared her realization while in Mali that Jesus never asked for things in prayer “if God willed it”, but rather prayed fervently and with...
God's neighbourhood is closer than you think
I blogged previously on the disparity between my time in St. Louis for Urbana and my experience on the first day back to school (which wasn’t more than three days after that).
I asked God how he wanted me to be a witness within my cohort. I should explain, a “cohort” within the Faculty of Education is just a district or a program based on a specific focus or committed to a...
Urbana revisited
I was asked a couple of days after coming back to Toronto from Urbana what I missed about it. I had been crooning on about how much I missed Urbana when a friend asked me “what do you miss about it?” At the time, I scrambled to cohese a comprehensive thought that entailed all of the things I loved and experienced at Urbana as well as my opinions and emotional outlook of it. It was...

Fact #26: I am a very very messy eater even when I try my hardest not to make a mess.
Fact #27: I used to love counting the little holes in ceilings.
Fact #28: I add hot sauce to nearly everything I consume. I know I know, I’m aware that I’m well on the way to the magical world of Stomach Ulcer Land, and by “magical” I mean “hellish”. This leads me to my next...
As my final hours of freedom wither away...
I’m lying in bed unable to decide whether or not to sleep, after all I’ll be getting up in a couple of hours anyway (literally). I probably won’t sleep. I’ll stay up watching videos on Youtube and editing various things, and by “things” I mean recordings d= Still, I wonder if it’s better to get at least a couple hours of shut eye so that I don’t...
A prayer
As I was listening to Jhapo Naam (the song from Urbana) after buying it from iTunes, I noticed a part near the end where Chris Hale the singer/sitar player stops to pray before continuing. I was floored by his prayer. This is how it goes:
Lord Jesus, we worship you. You are the one who frees us from hypocrisy. You are the one who lets us truly know you, lets us truly know God so that we...
God's mission is smaller than you think...
“God’s mission is smaller than you think. Look around you, in the neighbourhood he placed you in. Your neighbourhood, God’s mission is much bigger than you think.” These were the wise words of Jim Tebbe in the opening session at Urbana ‘09. It wasn’t obvious to me what he meant by this at first, until we went into depth the gospel of John.
THE WORD BECAME FLESH...
Bhajo naam, japo naam, pyaara naam, Yeshu naam
These are the lyrics to the song Bhajo Naam, a song I heard a Hindi/Christian Rock band play at the Urbana ‘09 conference I got back from not more than a few hours ago. This song was sung on the second last day we were there during the evening session. I fell in love with the song instantly drawn into the gospel behind the text which translates to “sing his name, chant his name, the...

He is Wonderful!
Hallelujah, salvation and glory, honour and power, he is wonderful!
This is the tenor/bass line of the gospel we’re singing for the Christmas service. We had our first rehearsal today, and to be honest I thought there would be three people- max. 15 people showed up. I was like HALLELUJAH, PRAISE THE LAWWWD! I was honestly genuinely surprised and shocked- yet again, at how faithful the Lord...
It feels like there's confetti in my
I have no idea why, but the one genre of singing style that ALWAYS restores my love of singing is gospel. There’s something so arrestingly beautiful about the genre that captchas my soul, so to speak. After listening to gospel singers or singing some gospel, I feel like my heart has simultaneously had the crap beaten out of it and as if it were born for the very first time. It’s an...
Yes, I'm a hater.
I will NEVER understand the appeal of Korean Pop. NEVER x a milli, and then some.
Ich weiß nicht, was soll es bedeuten.
I feel the desire to cry and yet the utter inability to do so. Interesting…. Yet not surprising; this is an uncharted emotion I am all too familiar with.

Scared of Heights
It sucks when someone tells you they’ve liked you for five years and they’ve been too shy to tell you, scared to ruin the amazing thing you have going. In my case, we’re both glad he never told me, because, maybe it would’ve gotten awkward. Maybe we wouldn’t be such good friends if he had prematurely pushed the relationship. Now that we’ve both told each other...

I found out a little while ago through a Facebook event someone (whom I can not for the life of me recall) invited me to about an interesting sounding gig. It was an invite to audition for Vocal Horizons Choir performing for the Raptors opening night/game vs. Cleveland.

It’s been forever since the last random facts post so here’s a few random facts about yers truly:

Fact #23: I am losing eyelashes like woa right now. My eyes have different amounts of lashes on each. Stupid eyelash curler..
